"Bloodlines" is back this April at DC Comics, and CBR has the exclusive first details.

The new "Bloodlines" is a six-issue miniseries, written by J.T. Krul and with art by V. Ken Marion, who have previously collaborated on multiple projects at Aspen Comics. It's described as a "dark and horrifying science-fiction epic," and echoes the concept of the original: aliens infecting humans with transformative results, though this "Bloodlines" calls the process a "fate much worse than death."

In 1993, "Bloodlines" was a major crossover that ran through the company's annual issues that year, and introduced a new wave of superheroes that gained powers thanks to contact with alien parasites. (Tommy Monaghan, the star of Garth Ennis & John McCrea's "Hitman," was by far the most successful of the group.) It's not yet known the extent of ties the new "Bloodlines" may have to the original, but DC has confirmed to CBR News that this story takes place in the DC Universe.

CBR has the exclusive first look at both Marion's cover to April's "Bloodlines" #1 and a variant by Jill Thompson, plus solicitation text for the issue. Check back with CBR tomorrow afternoon for DC Comics' full April 2016 solicitations!

When a meteor crashes to Earth, bringing with it an unspeakable alien presence that terrorizes a nearby small town, the lucky ones die first. As for the rest, they find themselves locked in a hellish struggle for control of their bodies and their minds. This isn’t just an invasion. It’s an infestation. What would you do if the greatest threat to humanity was hidden away inside you?

Award-winning writer J.T. Krul (Teen Titans, Green Arrow, Jirni) and superstar-in-the-making V. Ken Marion (All New Soulfire, Jirni) bring you their dark and horrifying science-fiction epic about tortured souls who are cursed to a fate worse than death...much worse.
