Since the company's original incarnation, Valiant Entertainment has been known for unconventional marketing techniques. That hasn't stopped with the current Valiant -- remember the QR-activated talking comic book covers? -- and the company is set to unveil its latest today at the ComicsPRO retailer event in Portland: A retailer-exclusive time capsule, which can't be unlocked (so they claim) until after the conclusion of 2016 event "4001 A.D.". CBR has the exclusive first details.

The time capsule is said to contain "a treasure trove of exclusive surprises and captivating artifacts from the future of the Valiant Universe." It'll arrive in comic shops on May 4 -- the release date of "4001 A.D." #1 -- and keys to unlock the capsule won't come until late August 2016, along with issue #4 of "4001 A.D."

"We're so excited to reveal what the future holds for 4001 A.D. that we wanted to bring that same level of anticipation to fans all over the country with the 4001 A.D. time capsule," Valiant Publisher Fred Pierce said in a statement. 'All summer long, we'll be releasing teases about the incredible secrets that these unique items contain. Let the speculation begin!"

Additionally, Valiant is set to debut new artwork at ComicsPRO, including pages from "Rai" #13 by CAFU:
