Gadot describes Wonder Woman as her "dream role."

Due to the secrecy surrounding the project, Gal Gadot didn't realize she was auditioning to play Wonder Woman in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" until she screen tested with Ben Affleck, who will play Batman in the upcoming Warner Bros. film.

"I mean, I could have guessed," she told Empire Magazine. "I thought it was going to be Selina [Kyle], you know?"

"I only knew what role it was when I flew in to test with Ben [Affleck]," she continued. "I was very excited. Anytime I had general meetings in LA, I always said that my dream role was to do an empowered, independent woman who doesn’t rely on men."

Fortunately for her, then, her role as Wonder Woman will continue into not only her own solo film, but also into the two-part "Justice League" film.

Of the character, she revealed, "She's seen it all... She has seen what humans can do, so it was very hard for her to come back and fight."

"I don't want people to think she is perfect," she added. "She can be naughty."

"Wonder Woman" is scheduled for release on June 23, 2017, though Gal Gadot will first be seen in the role in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," in theaters March 25, 2016.
