"Tales of the Crypt" will be part of Shyamalan's larger deal with TNT.

M Night Shyamalan will reboot "Tales from the Crypt" as part of a larger deal with TNT. According to Deadline, the director will create a weekly two-hour block of horror and suspense content, with "Tales from the Crypt" as "the centerpiece offering."

"This is a new genre for us in our series efforts and a great chance to partner with M Night Shyamalan, whose blockbuster hit 'The Visit' reminded movie audiences and critics this past summer that he truly is a master of horror," TNT evp of original programming Sarah Aubrey said in a statement.

Much like the show's predecessor on HBO, "Tales from the Crypt" takes its name from the original EC Comics by William Gaines; the show will draw inspiration from the comics as well as develop new content.

Shyamalan, best known for directing horror films like "The Sixth Sense," will serve as executive producer alongside his Binding Edge Pictures partner Ashwin Rajan, Endgame Entertainment’s James D. Stern and Aloris Entertainment's John Santilli and Dan McKinnon.

The show is scheduled to air on TNT this fall.
