Marvel Comics expands its "Star Wars" comics line in July when Lando Calrissian takes the spotlight for a 5-issue series.

Written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Alex Maleev, "Lando" marks the fifth original "Star Wars" series released by Marvel since the franchise returned to the publisher. The story follows Lando in the days before his on-screen introduction in "Episode IV," though as Soule tells, he's still the same character fans fell in love with.

"Before Cloud City, before his glorious Death Star run, Lando Calrissian was just a man trying to make his way through an uncaring universe determined not to recognize that he was undeniably the coolest man in the galaxy," Sould said. "But Lando’s got a plan to change all that… and it starts with the deal of a lifetime"

Introduced to the franchise's cast in "Empire Strikes Back," Lando was brought to life on the big screen by Billy Dee Williams. The character proved popular, and played a key role in "Return of the Jedi" as well as a number of "Star Wars" comics over the years, both as a supporting character and in a starring role.
