The characters of The CW and CBS' respective superhero dramas "The Flash" and "Supergirl" may share a producer and a comic book publisher, though for now those are the only things that will be linking them.
Series actors Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist donned their superheroic duds for a new "Variety" cover celebrating busy executive producer Greg Berlanti, who is behind six network dramas slated for the Fall 2015 season. "Variety" Executive Editor Debra Birnbaum debuted the picture today via her Twitter account:
Though while the image may have fans hoping that the corporately connected networks will work out a crossover, a recent piece by Birnbaum about The CW's incoming "Legends of Tomorrow" confirms that for now, there are no plans for "Supergirl" to connect to the various CW DC shows.
"The network has said publicly at this point they’re going to keep her to themselves,” said Berlanti in the piece. "I always approach the shows as a fan first, so I would love to see (a crossover). I think in success, all things are possible. But there’s a lot that would have to happen before everybody might say yes to that."
