Rip Hunter's team travels back to the height of the Cold War in "White Knights," the next episode of "DC's Legends of Tomorrow." However, during their trip to the 1980s, they break into the Pentagon and learn the timeline-shattering consequences of their earlier actions.
"The file we steal from the Pentagon tells us Vandal Savage has, in fact, defected at the height of the Cold War, and we learn he is working on something called Project Svarog," explains executive produce Phil Klemmer in the behind-the-scenes featurette. "It seems to be something to do with some sort of nuclear weapon, and -- when we use Gideon to check the timeline -- we realize that the consequences of us having flushed Vandal out of the United States and into the arms of Mother Russa has basically changed the course of the Cold War."
According to the official episode description, "When Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) retreats behind the Iron Curtain in the early 1980s, a string of nuclear scientists begins to mysteriously disappear. The team follows Vandal's trail straight into the heart of the Soviet Union in an attempt to find his next target. Ray (Brandon Routh) tries to bond with a beautiful Soviet scientist, Valentina Vostock (guest star Stephanie Corneliussen), in the hopes of finding out Vandal's next move. When Valentina rejects him, it's Snart (Wentworth Miller) to the rescue. Stein (Victor Garber) pushes Jax (Franz Drameh) to be better, which frustrates Jax and ultimately threatens the Firestorm matrix. Rip (Arthur Darvill) asks Sara (Caity Lotz) to train Kendra (Ciara Renée)."
Airing Thursday nights at 8 pm EST on The CW, "Legends of Tomorrow" stars Caity Lotz as White Canary, Brandon Routh as the Atom, Wentworth Miller as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Victor Garber as Professor Martin Stein (one-half of Firestorm), Franz Drameh as Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (the other half of Firestorm), Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl and Arthur Darvill as time-traveler Rip Hunter.
